Welcome to the JDRF Kids Advocacy Network (KAN)

No one knows better than you how diabetes affects your daily life and your future.  And no one can make a stronger case for the value of diabetes research. 

Your personal experience and your desire to help find a cure make you a powerful force for type 1 research.  The best way to get involved--to do more--is to become a member of the JDRF Kids Advocacy Network (KAN). 

KAN is an online community of kids and teens who want to make their voices heard on important diabetes issues and who are reaching out to their friends, family, and communities to get others involved.  KAN members are real volunteer leaders: they are always in the know, they are the first to respond to a call to action, and they know that being a kid is a big advantage when it comes to making a difference for diabetes research.

 

As a KAN member, you will:

  • Receive monthly KAN Challenge emails that will give you opportunities to get involved and help out with our advocacy efforts. Watch out for prize months!
  • Receive the quarterly KAN Connection newsletter to keep you updated on what other members of KAN are up to and how you can make an impact in Congress and your community.
  • Become a Fan of "JDRF Advocacy" on Facebook and then invite your family and friends to become fans too!
  • Spread the Word to your friends, family, and others who are living with type 1 diabetes about what they can do to help find a cure.
  • Tell Your Story about life with type 1 diabetes by submitting your story along with a photo or video.
  • Respond to JDRF action alerts especially for JDRF Advocates your age to make your voice heard on key issues.
  • Participate in a variety of special events and campaigns, including the bi-annual Promise Campaign and Children's Congress (held in alternating years.)
