Making a personal phone call to your Congressional Representative, and Senators, simply could not be easier! Follow the ‘JDRF Advocacy call site’ link below, add your personal information in and wait for your phone to ring beside you. We’ve prepared talking points, to help you make sure your national lawmakers know just how important you think continued T1D research funding such as the SDP is to you.
The type 1 diabetes (T1D) community learns early on that age is simply no barrier when it comes to making a difference. Every two years, held in Washington, D.C., JDRF’s Children’s Congress gives children between the ages of 4 and 17 the opportunity to personally show their Congressional Members just how they feel about living with T1D and their daily struggles. Then they can ask their Members of Congress to do something about it! And no one really knows the struggles of being a kid with type 1 diabetes better than a child with T1D!
One story on its own can be inspirational, but combined, they can generate a close-knit community of passionate advocates focused on a great goal, treating, curing and preventing T1D. Are you a grandmother or grandfather of a child with T1D? A mother or father? Have you yourself lived with T1D for 15 years? Were you diagnosed last week? Share YOUR personal T1D story with this community, and connect with others in your local area!
If you have cell service or a landline, you too can easily make a difference. Sign up right now for text alerts from JDRF Advocacy. Text “ACTION” to “53731” (or JDRF1) and sign up for our alerts today. (Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt-out. We’ll text you approximately twice a month.)
Then, you can also make a call to the decision-makers. One call is all it takes to let your Representative and/or your Senators know just how crucial type 1 diabetes (T1D) research is to you. We’ll give you all the brief but important talking points right here on the site; then all you have to do is dial!
You are unforgettable, your story is always unique, but your daily struggles are shared and replayed all around the T1D community! Meet with your Congressional Members right in their local home office, and make sure that they remember YOU when they question if the federal government should continue to support uninterrupted T1D research. The answer is a resounding YES, but it is your job as constituents to remind them!
