Since JDRF’s 2013 Children’s Congress (CC13) concluded in July, the 2013 class of delegates has continued their advocacy efforts for the type 1 diabetes community back home. This legislative year has been busy in terms of the effort put toward ensuring broad bipartisan support for renewal of the Special Diabetes Program (SDP), which funds critical diabetes research at the National Institutes of Health (NIH). To help garner Congressional support, the delegates have attended local meetings with their Members of Congress through JDRF’s Promise to Remember Me Campaign and also participated in efforts to raise public awareness of T1D by writing letters to the editor in their local community papers.

Please visit the Promise site for summaries of meetings CC13 delegates have attended, and also check out the links below for some of the articles they have authored to help raise awareness about the importance of continued research to turn type one into type none.
